System Requirements

In order to start to use the FaceToFaceMeeting™ Service, you will need the following:

  1. A broadband connection with a minimum of 90 Kbps of sending/uploading bandwidth. This includes cable, DSL, wireless, ISDN, T1, and most corporate networks that have internet access. Analog telephone “dial-up” systems of 56k or less, however, will not work.
  2. Minimum 800 MHz Pentium™ II. However, processors as low as 350 MHz can be used, but with lesser quality, and provided that all other applications are shut down during an active video conference.
  3. Minimum 128 MB of RAM.
  4. To participate in a 10 person multi-point conference a minimum 1 GHz processor will be necessary.
  5. Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT or XP Operating system.
  6. A web camera.  There are many of these on the market, available through national chain stores such as Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City, The Wiz, etc.  However, for superior quality we recommend the iRez K2 and iRez KX cameras.  The K2 is for use only with PCs that have USB 2.0 (High Speed) ports and a minimum 2 GHz processor.  The KX is for use with PCs that have USB 1.1 ports or PCs that have USB 2.0 ports but less than a 2 GHz processor.  For additional camera/microphone information and/or to order a camera or other equipment, please click on the following  link. Camera and Microphone Requirements.
  7. An inexpensive external microphone (unidirectional is preferred) is definitely recommended even if the camera has a built-in microphone.  This produces significantly better quality than using the microphone built into a web camera.
  8. Any external or internal loudspeakers.
  9. As an OPTIONAL alternative to microphone/speaker you may also use a videoconferencing headset.
  10. Videoconferencing headsets and microphone kits are available through our website.  See Camera and Microphone Requirements.
